About The Position

EnSafe is accepting applications for a Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) Engineer to join our team in one of the following office locations: Farmer’s Branch, Texas; Houston, Texas; Pensacola, Florida; Jacksonville, Florida; or Tampa, Florida. Candidates must be willing to work from one of these offices; relocation assistance is available to meet this expectation. We are seeking a water resources leader who is an analytical person and analytical thinker in hydrology and hydraulics. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with 10+ years of experience in H&H or water resources engineering and advanced proficiency in HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) modeling. You should enjoy working on diverse projects in an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and professional growth. In this mid-to-senior level role, you will provide technical leadership to a small team and excel at client engagement and business development in a consulting setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (ABET-accredited). A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in hydrology, hydraulics, or water resources engineering (consulting experience preferred), including a history of project management and team leadership.
  • Technical Skills: Direct expertise with HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) modeling software is required. Familiarity with related tools (e.g., GIS, StormCAD, SWMM, or other hydrologic/hydraulic models) and engineering design software are a plus.
  • Project Domain Knowledge: Experience in civil/horizontal infrastructure projects (e.g., stormwater drainage, flood control, watershed management) within the environmental consulting domain. Understanding of applicable regulations and permitting (such as FEMA floodplain considerations) is beneficial.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple priorities. A collaborative approach to problem-solving and excellent organizational skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience preparing reports and delivering presentations to clients or public stakeholders.
  • Client Focus: Strong people skills with the ability to maintain and grow client relationships. Experience supporting business development or having an existing network of client contacts is highly desirable.
  • Availability: Willingness to occasionally travel to project sites or client meetings as needed. Ability to start promptly (position is open for immediate hire) and meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing hydrology & hydraulics projects from planning through completion for public and private clients, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
  • Mentoring and supervising a team of junior and mid-level water resources staff, fostering their development, and maintaining a collaborative team environment.
  • Performing and overseeing complex hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using tools such as HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) for flood studies, stormwater management, and related civil infrastructure projects.
  • Reviewing and approving technical reports, models, designs, and calculations to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry’s best practices.
  • Presenting findings and technical recommendations to clients and stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights during meetings and reports.
  • Maintaining and developing strong client relationships by delivering excellent work and responsiveness, and supporting business development through identifying opportunities, assisting with proposals, and leveraging your network.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (civil engineers, environmental scientists, etc.) and coordinating with regulatory agencies to facilitate project permitting and compliance.
