About The Position

Serves as a recognized technical subject matter expert (SME) with both strategic and tactical responsibilities for the design, development, and support components, sub-systems and systems geared towards hydraulic fluid control. Leads and influences product line strategy, direction, and priorities, driving business results and improvements across a wide variety of projects. Provides technical solutions leveraging both existing and personally developed technologies and is responsible for the quality and robustness of new and modified product designs throughout all phases of development. Promotes innovation by identifying and integrating new technologies into products and services and generates intellectual property with significant business impact. Possesses a broad strategic vision for the organization's future products and services, providing expert consultation and technical leadership both internally and externally. Represents the organization in professional forums and with customers, including presenting technical information to senior leadership such as the Group CTO or VP/GM. Fosters relationships with customers and suppliers and collaborates effectively with all business functions—including Product Engineering, technical and site leaders, Sales & Marketing—to identify issues and drive solutions to completion. Conducts feasibility studies to ensure project objectives are met within budget and timeline constraints. Teaches and promotes the application of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools and methods, and is recognized for a teaching mindset, mentoring engineers, and developing technical competencies within the organization. Subject Matter Expert for Hydraulic and Motion Control Engineering aligned to the office of the Aerospace Chief Engineer. Technical governance of complex projects/programs involving multiple components for completeness, compatibility, and compliance. Drives complete design of components or systems to meet customer requirements of performance & cost. Development and execution ownership of engineering technical roadmaps. Generates technical solutions and has accountability for the integrity of design solutions on multiple programs. Drives best practice methodologies for hydraulic, mechanical, and electromechanical engineering. Collaborates with customers and anticipates the future based on a deep understanding of technology trends. Collaborates with suppliers on technical offerings and design approval. Serve as key technical collaborators to the Integrated Program Development Team and sets expectation for technical execution. Key interface to relevant professional organizations and standards bodies. Facilitates and leads root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities. Leads Non Advocate Reviews across Aerospace programs as tasked. Teaches and promotes application of Design For Six Sigma tools and methods. Reviews and judges the suitability of requirements management plan and systems engineering plan. Mentoring within the engineering organization. Assist Site Engineering Manager on both strategic and tactical initiatives in support of Divisional goals. Support the identification/retention of the Technology Roadmap. Lead and/or participate in design reviews, advanced engineering studies, and provide final go/no-go decision to pass necessary PROLaunch gates. Lead innovation events, generating intellectual property with significant business impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 12+ years of design/development experience in the aerospace industry
  • 5+ years of experience with flow control devices/hydraulic systems
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
