About The Position

WET is seeking a Geoscience/Environmental Intern for Summer 2026. Intern candidates must be self-motivated, energetic, and willing to work well independently and as part of a team. The intern position will primarily support hydrogeology, permitting, engineering, and other technical consulting projects in the Kalispell area. Some travel will be required. The successful candidate will have opportunities to learn and develop valuable hands-on experience and skills including soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling; ; drilling and construction oversight; environmental data analysis; and contaminant plume and groundwater flow mapping on a variety of projects including contaminated site investigation, remediation, land development, and clean groundwater supply projects.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are important for report writing and collaboration with team members.
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurability under company policy is required.

Responsibilities

  • Field work: Will involve visiting project sites to conduct inspections and participate in monitoring and testing activities such as aquifer pumping tests, logging of borings and wells, characterization of soils, and maintaining equipment to ensure proper function.
  • Data Entry: Tabulate laboratory analytical and aquifer testing results into project databases, generate boring and well logs from field observations and notes, and prepare maps and other visuals to summarize project data.
  • Report Writing: Writing reports and documentation related to environmental investigations, permits, designs, project progress, and research findings
  • Collaboration: Work under the supervision of experienced technical staff, engineers and/or scientists, collaborating with team members on various tasks and projects. May interact with clients.
  • Learning and Development: Learn about regulations, industry practices, and the practical application of scientific and engineering concepts.
  • Communication: Utilize effective written and oral communication.
  • Travel: Some travel to WET job sites and other WET offices.
  • Safety: Complete required safety training and adhere to WET’s corporate Health and Safety Plan and applicable project-specific Health and Safety Plans.

Benefits

  • Interns are paid hourly wages, are eligible for time-and-a-half overtime pay and receive two paid holidays for summer work.
