Hubbard Supplyhouse is a plumbing and irrigation supply house specializing in kitchen, bath, appliances, and lighting, serving local plumbers, builders, and homeowners. The Hybrid Sales Representative role combines inside and outside sales functions, managing existing accounts and developing new business. This position involves both office-based sales and field visits to customer job sites and businesses. The ideal candidate is passionate about customer service, enjoys relationship-building, is driven by sales growth, and can balance inside sales support with outside sales prospecting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in sales, customer service, or a related progressive role
  • Product/applications experience required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and adjust weighing up to 50 pounds in multiple directions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in plumbing, irrigation, or a related industry
  • Minimum 2 years in similar position preferred
  • Wholesale distribution experience preferred
  • Customer-facing and B2B sales experience preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and multitask in a busy environment
  • Comfortable with initiating sales and recommending additional products

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist walk-in and phone-in customers with professionalism, warmth, and urgency
  • Manage multiple customer requests simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and a high level of service
  • Ask the right questions to uncover the full scope of customer needs and recommend the best product solutions
  • Troubleshoot product issues and provide technical support or coordinate next steps with vendors/manufacturers
  • Enter orders accurately, process returns/warranties, and proactively follow up with customers on order status, backorders, and substitutions
  • Build strong relationships with repeat customers by providing consistent follow-through, reliability, and problem-solving support
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally, balancing customer expectations with company policy and profitability
  • Take ownership of sales growth by actively identifying opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and recommend add-on items
  • Prepare, present, and follow up on quotes to convert opportunities into closed sales
  • Proactively search for new sales opportunities by identifying potential customers, following leads, and expanding existing accounts
  • Build and maintain a personal book of business through consistent outreach (calls, emails, site visits, follow-ups, and relationship touchpoints)
  • Develop long-term customer partnerships by understanding customer buying habits, job cycles, and upcoming project needs
  • Visit job sites, customer offices, and field locations as needed to strengthen customer relationships, support active projects, and drive new opportunities
  • Promote clearance, surplus, and alternative product solutions to move inventory and meet customer timelines/budgets
  • Communicate new programs, promotions, and vendor opportunities to customers to increase engagement and drive additional sales
  • Follow all pricing, credit, sales, and margin guidelines while still delivering strong customer solutions
  • Maintain accurate documentation in ERP/CRM systems (orders, quotes, notes, customer details, and follow-up tasks)
  • Track and manage sales opportunities to ensure timely follow-through and high close rates
  • Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, and outside sales teams to coordinate product availability, deliveries, and project timelines
  • Stay up to date on product knowledge, promotions, vendor programs, and sales training opportunities
  • Support both inside and outside sales teams by assisting with customer inquiries, order support, and project coordination
  • Maintain professional, timely, and consistent communication with customers in-office and in the field
  • Represent the company positively and professionally while building long-term customer loyalty and trust
