Overview … We are looking for a skilled HVAC/R Test and Service Technician to join our team at our Batavia, OH facility. This role is responsible for performing comprehensive testing and qualification of all manufactured products to ensure they meet design standards and customer expectations. You will execute product testing and validation to confirm performance aligns with engineering specifications and quality benchmarks. You will document test procedures and results, identifying and addressing any discrepancies. You will also provide field support, including domestic and international travel, for on-site training of personnel, equipment start-up and commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair services.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in commercial/industrial HVAC/R systems
  • Knowledge of HVAC/R and electrical diagnostics, including proficiency in troubleshooting both electrical and mechanical systems, knowledge of the refrigeration cycle, and the ability to calibrate valves and controls accurately.
  • Strong grasp of fluid dynamics, airflow, psychometrics, saturation, subcooling, superheat, thermodynamic principles, and property tables.
  • Experience with low and high-voltage 3-phase power systems, ranging from 208V to 600V.
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling in compliance with current environmental regulations.
  • An understanding of Ohm’s Law and its practical applications.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • 1st shift, on-site position located at our Batavia, OH facility.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of testing techniques, procedures, materials, and documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and quality documentation with precision and efficiency.
  • Set up and operate testing equipment to simulate environments that meet customer specifications.
  • Plan and estimate time and resources required for testing tasks.
  • Lay out and position test setups, including mechanical piping, ductwork, electrical power, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Calculate heating and cooling loads for test scenarios.
  • Size wiring for various test functions.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
  • Review shop orders, test plans, and related documentation to execute tests according to defined procedures.
  • Connect and verify calibration of data recording instruments to ensure accurate test data collection.
  • Record test results daily with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain control over materials and job activities throughout the testing process.
  • Understand and complete the Manufacturing Quality Plan (MQP) promptly.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on company equipment.
  • Keep the test area, tools, and equipment organized and clean.
  • Complete test procedures and reports efficiently, meeting or exceeding time and quality expectations.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
  • Accurately log labor hours and search for jobs and parts using the company’s ERP system.
  • Safely rig loads and operate forklifts and cranes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting other departments when necessary.
