About The Position

The HVAC Preventative Maintenance Mechanic Worker will support the Journeyman with maintenance and repair of air-conditioning, assists journeyman in replacement of thermostats, adjusting pulleys and belts, oiling and greasing fittings. In support of heating and ventilation equipment, assists journeyman by removing access plates and covers, parts cleaning, spot painting, sanding, and replacement of filters.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum two (2) years field experience at the lead technician level maintaining industrial or commercial HVAC systems and components, in support of an industrial Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance, and operating characteristics.
  • Industry experience in related shop mathematics.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply building plans, specifications, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and sketches of all complexity.
  • Knowledge of mechanical components and understanding of the purpose of the components as they relate to the complete operation so as to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of the mechanical systems within the buildings of Fort Hood.
  • Ability to perform good customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing; expertise in the English language.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain within 90 days, an EPA certification (CFC Certification type 1& type 2, Universal.

Responsibilities

  • Replace disposable or clean washable HVAC filters in Real Property facilities.
  • Respond to and complete scheduled and unscheduled Preventive Maintenance Orders (PMO) work within one (1) week, per the PM scheduled work issued by GFEBS, or by the time specified on the GFEBS PM plan or PM work order.
  • Perform work in general building repairs and maintenance incidental or preparatory to higher graded employee in the maintenance and repair of air-conditioning, heating and ventilation equipment.
  • Operate and perform operator maintenance on light vehicles, small engine-powered equipment and hand tools required in area maintenance, such as hydraulic lifts, forklifts (up to 6,000 pound capacity), pressure washers and mobile air compressors. Lubricates, sharpens, cleans and inspects hand and power tools.
  • Perform any labor or other detail as deemed essential.
  • Drive and perform operator maintenance on vehicle.
