About The Position

The HVAC Driver is responsible for transporting materials, equipment, and fabricated ductwork to and from job sites, as well as assisting in duct shop fabrication and material staging. This position supports shop and field operations by ensuring timely, safe, and accurate delivery of HVAC materials while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service. Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Shop Foreman and the Warehouse Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Runs various machinery in the duct shop to fabricate duct. Assembles ductwork and other equipment or materials as required for duct shop or job site needs. Operates company owned and leased trucks under 26,000 pounds to facilitate shipping and receiving operations. Stages items in preparation for delivery according to priority and job. Loads and unloads trucks using material handling equipment. Assists with unloading of HVAC units and equipment at job sites when needed. Operates trucks for delivery, pick up, and relocation of products and materials. Represents the company professionally when interacting with customers, vendors, and job site personnel. Operates all material handling equipment. Checks vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Travels to job sites for same-day deliveries within the designated service area. Occasional extended workdays may occur based on project or delivery demands. Inspects loads to ensure that cargo is secure for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers. Maintains and protects all company property, tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working condition. Complies with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and vehicle safety standards. Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel-toe boots, gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection as required. Reports unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries immediately. Must maintain compliance with company vehicle safety standards. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential to this role. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: Minimum of 1 year of truck driving experience required. License: Valid Driver's License and clean driving record required. No CDL required. Subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and ongoing MVR review, as required. Must maintain insurability under company auto insurance policy. Forklift Certification preferred. Necessary Skills: Must be 18 years of age or older. Demonstrated reliability and strong work ethic. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and safety awareness. Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area. Work Environment: Work is performed in a duct fabrication shop and at active construction job sites. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, shop machinery, forklifts, and construction activity. Exposure to varying temperatures depending on season (hot shop conditions, cold outdoor environments). Moderate to loud noise levels. Potential exposure to dust, sheet metal edges, and construction materials. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as assigned. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds independently on a regular basis. Must be physically capable of handling HVAC materials, ductwork, sheet metal, tools, and equipment in both shop and job site environments. Frequent lifting of materials ranging from 25–75 pounds. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the workday. Ability to climb ladders and safely access truck beds and job site areas. Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery and fabrication equipment in the duct shop. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
