We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our federal team supporting the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Campus in Kansas City, MO. Our Engineers are engaged in the full lifecycle of a project from pre-sales to closeout. These duties may include cost estimating & sales support, designing control system shop drawing submittals, generating product literature submittals, programming controller sequence of operations, executing control system startup & commissioning, integrating the field controllers to the head end, creating user interface graphics, training the customer, and generating project closeout documents such as as-built drawings and O&M manuals At Johnson Controls, we support our nation's most critical facilities, the people who occupy them, and the missions they enable.   • Develop and maintains the relationship throughout the duration of the Facility Consulting Services Contract. Satisfies customer needs and expectations of the lease's Performance Contract through a consultative partnering approach regarding customer energy and operational issues.
  • Designs and configures complex software building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required
  • Configures and programs HVAC building automation and control systems (Direct Digital Controls) and creates controller sequence of operations.
  • Develops and tests software programs necessary to operate the system per project requirements and specifications.
  • Commissions and troubleshoots building control system to ensure proper operation of the building control system.
  • Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Supports the customer with performing pre-design site survey, designing control system shop drawing submittals, and generating product literature submittals.
  • Coordinate drawings and equipment schedules for submittal packages that communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, field installation team and subcontractors.
  • Provides field change information to the project team for as-built drawings (typically in Visio/CAD) and software.
  • Keeps management and customer informed of job statuses and issues.
  • Assists in performing site-specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
  • Participates in release meeting with project field team. Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Adheres to all safety standards. Holds a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience working with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, preferably with programming, configuration, visualization, and integrations. 5+ years' experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems
  • Technical knowledge and experience working with Metasys and Johnson Controls Legacy product line required
  • Integration experience with low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e., LON, BACnet, Modbus, etc.)
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with computer-related drafting tools. AutoCAD and/or Visio experience preferred.
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances, including a Q clearance, for projects being supported (background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit checks)
  • Proficiency creating SCT databases, custom programs, schedules, trends, alarms, and programming modules preferred
