We are seeking a highly motivated HVAC Application Engineer focused on the critical discipline of Building Automation Systems (BAS). In this role, you will be the technical expert responsible for translating mechanical requirements into functional, optimized digital control systems. You will architect the network, select instrumentation, develop control sequences, and ensure the precision of every component that controls the building environment. Key Responsibilities: The Application & Control Lifecycle This position is centered on the engineering and programming phase of our control system implementation, ensuring seamless integration between mechanical equipment and digital logic. Control System Architecture & Design Network Blueprint: Develop the overall control network architecture, including detailed wiring termination sheets and comprehensive parts lists. System Definition: Create accurate equipment schedules and author detailed Sequences of Operation (SOOs) that drive energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Standards Adherence: Ensure strict compliance with building design specifications, Value Engineering (VE) modifications, and McKenney’s rigorous ACS design and implementation standards. Programming & Quality Assurance Innovation: Participate in the ongoing review and enhancement of McKenney's ACS design standards alongside the management team. Project Documentation & Collaboration Deliverables: Prepare complete control systems submittals, flow diagrams, and as-built wiring diagrams. Field Partnership: Conduct frequent jobsite visits to establish a clear scope of work and attend project field turnover meetings. Resource Management: Utilize our Project Support Center personnel for Revit modeling, material logistics, and assembly/delivery of final documentation packages. Communication Hub: Maintain continuous communication with the Account Manager, Control System Project Manager, and Mechanical Systems Project Manager. Why McKenney's? Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physical Sciences.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in an engineering or design role focused on building automation systems.
  • Demonstrated competency in Windows, Microsoft Office, function block programming environments, Web-enabled applications, and database software.
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to maintain painstaking attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks.
  • Able to demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals or deadlines.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed, as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.

  • Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.
  • Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to construction, mechanical, and electrical-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Moderate physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds and extensive standing and walking.
  • Work requires local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations.
  • Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and scaffolds, and to negotiate work areas under construction.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in HVAC Controls, Building Automation (BAS), or Energy Monitoring platforms (e.g., Niagara, Tridium, etc.).
  • Advanced competency in Autodesk Revit.
