About The Position

Airlink’s Humanitarian Programs Managers play a key role in the operational delivery of this mission by coordinating across Airlink’s partner network during responses, managing key relationships in between emergencies, and contributing to sector-wide initiatives that build logistics capacity and improve the overall support provided to communities in crisis following an emergency. Due to the nature of Airlink’s mission in support of disaster response, there will occasionally be an expectation to work extended hours or on weekends and holidays, with limited advance notice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as international affairs, political science, supply chain management, or a related field, or High School diploma with equivalent, relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in the emergency management, disaster relief, or logistics fields, with emphasis on relief programs in North America.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships, acquired through engagement with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to process large volumes of information dynamically in a changing operational environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills that can be adapted for a range of different audiences.
  • Willing to travel within the US/Canada up to 10%, dependent upon operational requirements.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States is required.

Responsibilities

  • Driving preparedness to respond to rapid-onset emergencies and disaster seasons identified in Airlink’s North America Regional Strategy
  • Managing existing regional partners (nonprofit organizations, airlines, logistics companies, and coordinating bodies)
  • Developing new logistics (warehousing and trucking) and aviation (business and general aviation) partnerships and internal expertise to support an expanded disaster response and recovery playbook in North America)
  • Delivering logistics capacity-building and preparedness initiatives within North America, such as technical guidance notes and partner learning events.
  • Representing Airlink at humanitarian, logistics, and aviation conferences in the North America region.
  • Gathering, analyzing, and disseminating information regarding relief needs and logistics challenges following an emergency, to inform operational decision-making within Airlink and across its partner network.
  • Liaising with nonprofit partners to ascertain demand for passenger and cargo movement following an emergency
  • Engaging airlines, non-commercial aviation, and logistics companies to identify opportunities to use airlift and trucking operations for aid delivery and responder mobilization.
  • Coordinating Airlink’s passenger and cargo operations, including the direct management of the mobilization of aid cargo and responders from partner organizations.
  • Where requested, deploying to the field to coordinate with partners, understand logistics needs, develop gap-filling solutions, and effectively communicate the impact of Airlink’s operation to wider stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the overall Airlink operation, including communications and development activities (report writing, input on social media and blog posts, etc.).
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to mobilize resources in support of projects aligned with Airlink’s mission, with emphasis on corporate and philanthropic foundations.
  • Developing and managing proposals, including monitoring & evaluation and reporting requirements, in conjunction with the Vice President of Humanitarian Programs and Airlink’s Development team.
