About The Position

Archuleta County is seeking a qualified Caseworker I. This position offers a wage of $22.28 - $31.20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Case Workers operate under direct supervision, focusing on learning job tasks and developing skills. They frequently consult with their supervisor for guidance and require supervisory oversight for significant decisions and all documentation review. The role involves providing casework services across various Department of Human Services programs, including initial intake, supervisor-assisted ongoing case management, assessments of individual or family needs and safety, crisis intervention, and direct services. Caseworkers recommend referrals to community resources and protective services, develop client plans for supervisory review, and maintain detailed records. The position requires basic knowledge of social casework principles and offers opportunities for increasing responsibility and independent service provision as experience is gained.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, Psychology or a related human behavioral science
  • Major course work (equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques (e.g., social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development)
  • Successfully complete the Colorado Department of Human Services training requirements for caseworkers within the mandated timeframes to be eligible for continued employment (for newly hired Caseworkers)
  • Basic knowledge of established theories, principles and concepts of social casework practice related to assigned program area(s)

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Work under direct supervision while learning job tasks and developing skills and knowledge
  • Meet with supervisor frequently for direction
  • Make significant decisions only with supervisor oversight
  • Provide casework services for various programs offered through the Department of Human Services
  • Perform initial intake and Supervisor assisted ongoing case management
  • Perform initial assessments and evaluations of individual or family needs and safety
  • Assist in providing crisis intervention
  • Provide basic direct and core services
  • Recommend service referrals to community resources, core and direct services, and/or protective services
  • Develop plans to assist clients and submits for supervisory review
  • Maintain records, documentation and reports related to services provided
  • Perform increasingly more responsible work as the employee gains experience and independently provides basic casework services
