About The Position

The incumbent assigned to this position is the single point of contact and responsible for all operational aspects of the individual Community during their respective shifts. Manages and supervises direct care staff in the care and custody of vulnerable persons who are intellectually challenged. Ensures staffing is adequate for the shift assignment based on resident population. Motivates and evaluates subordinate staff through establishing criteria and performing the necessary training to ensure their success. Coordinates and works in partnership with colleagues, medical, security, behavioral services, and resident and support services managers to ensure that all residents receive quality and timely services which will enable them to live in a safe and secure environment while participating in programs and activities designed to assist them in achieving competency. Assists in directing the programs offered by the Rehabilitation staff to ensure that residents are fully engaged in events and activities that reinforce competency training elements, provide leisure activities to improve resident satisfaction and involve residents in activities and events to reinforce good behavior and minimize behavioral issues. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Community Manager to enable them to work in partnership with the Resident Services Director to ensure that support coordination activities and resident training programs achieve desirable results for the resident population. Provides feedback and input regarding the service delivery and quality of services provided to the residents. Provides consultation and advice to the Community Manager to enable them to work effectively and in partnership with the Behavioral Services Department to ensure that the Contingency Manual is consistently and fairly administered to document and manage resident behaviors. Make recommendations for changes and revisions to the contingency manual as appropriate. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Community Manager to enable them to work in partnership with the Chief of Security to ensure that staff, residents and visitors adhere to all security protocols to minimize contraband introduction and maintain a secure and safe environment for residents and staff. Make recommendations for changes to security protocols and enhancements as appropriate. Works in partnership with the medical and nursing staff on assigned shifts to ensure that residents receive timely and quality health care services. Works in partnership with the Support Services Manager to ensure that all facility administrative, training resident complaints and technology issues are identified and addressed in a timely and effective manner. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Community Manager to enable them to work in partnership with the Budget Manager to ensure that budget resources are maximized to accomplish the mission of the agency and provide for the well-being and needs of the resident population. Provides consultation and recommendations to enable the Community Manager to work in partnership with the Human Resources Manager to ensure that staffing, recruitment, selection, employee benefits, classification, compensation, payroll, and employee relations issues are addressed and resolved in a timely and appropriate manner. Participates as a member of the Community Manager’s management team to provide effective and decisive leadership and direction to facility residents and staff. Monitor, in-service, motivate and direct staff in areas of job performance. Complete employee’s performance evaluations and performance expectations within established timeframes as required. Assist in the hiring process of staff, including but not limited to, participating in the interview process, making recommendation(s) for hire. Recommends corrective and/or disciplinary actions as necessary. Completes all required training. Monitor and track to ensure assigned staff complete required training. Maintain timesheet, ensuring accuracy and submit timely in accordance with policy and procedure. Review and approve timesheets as required. Monitor all time and attendance to ensure all coverage levels are met, review and address areas of concern with staff and management as required.

  • A valid driver’s license. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. Licenses that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
  • MANDT at the Advanced level is required unless the incumbent requests reasonable accommodation supported by an annual medical certification. Incumbent is required to submit to pre-employment TB screening and on an annual on-going basis as prescribed by DDDP.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and/or resident information. This specific standard is mission critical as the Agency is entrusted with information about employees and residents which is protected by HIPAA and other federal and state laws. The Agency’s ability to maintain and protect confidential information has a direct relationship to our ability to gain and maintain the public’s trust.
  • Based on the duties and essential functions of this position, incumbents will be required to spend a minimum of 75% of work time performing duties which involves direct contact with residents in a forensic facility.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to pre-employment TB screening and on an annual on-going basis as required by DDDP.
  • This position requires lifting, pulling and squatting.
