About The Position

We are seeking a Human Resources and Risk Manager to join our leadership team! Burkwood Treatment Center is a place of hope and healing for adult men and women who have been struggling with substance abuse, chemical dependency, and certain co-occurring mental health conditions. Located at the end of a quiet street near Willow River State Park in Hudson, Wisconsin, Burkwood provides comprehensive care in a compassionate and personalized manner with great emphasis upon ensuring that each person who chooses to heal with us receives an individualized plan that addresses and incorporates his or her unique needs, strengths, and goals. ​PURPOSE STATEMENT: ​Responsible for all phases of human resources within a facility to include recruiting and selection, onboarding, new hire orientation and payroll processing. Responsible for compensation, employee relations and worker’s compensation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, a clinical healthcare field, risk management, business, finance or related field required
  • One to three years’ previous experience in a Human Resources leadership role with demonstrable knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation and human resources information systems required.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in health information management, nursing, or related field preferred
  • Professional certification in Human Resources preferred.
  • Certifications related to health care risk management, safety, and or process improvement highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day HR functions for the facility.
  • Interpret HR policies for staff and respond to staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Translate complex information and provide highly specialized advice in a specific Human Resources discipline.
  • Serve as known expert in subject matter with a broad knowledge and understanding of HR functional areas.
  • Manage and implement corporate and local Human Resources programs to fulfill state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Identify data needed for reports and ensure reports accurately capture and present information appropriate to the audience.
  • Communicate information to all levels of the facility, including leadership, staff and other community members.
  • Responsible for leading, motivating and assessing diverse teams, including experienced and junior professionals.
  • May lead projects that impact the facility at the request of leadership or corporate Human Resources.
  • Responsible for compensation, employee relations and worker’s compensation.
  • Provide staff management to include hiring, development, training, performance management and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
  • Direct and oversee the risk management program in collaboration with the corporate risk manager designee.
  • Investigate and analyze actual and potential risks in the facility; assess liability and probability of legal action for potential notification. Implement, educate and encourage incident reporting system throughout the facility.
  • Maintain database of full disclosure activities and provide oversight for review programs and provides technical support as needed.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant for risk management activities, performance improvement, policy/procedure development and compliance initiatives.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures that improve both patient care and employee safety. Ensure the application of institutional policies, especially those regarding patient rights, confidentiality and full disclosure.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
