The Human Resources Manager is a full-service professional who leads day-to-day HR operations, refines HR systems, and develops long-term strategy. This role facilitates performance management, leads employment equity and inclusion initiatives, and positions ECHO as an employer of choice. This role has no supervisory responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in full-service Human Resources, preferably in roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training and/or experience.
  • Experience using a strengths-based approach to organizational development.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional HR Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Talent Recruitment & Retention: Lead staff and intern recruitment and hiring. Write and post position descriptions. Attend recruiting events.
  • Performance Management: Manage and improve systems that support ongoing staff development and regular performance management. Coach managers and employees around performance issues.
  • Staff Training: Coordinate organizational trainings integral to the success and safety of all employees. Help identify professional development opportunities for individual employees.
  • HR Policy Management: Assist in drafting staff policies/protocols. Update staff handbook as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure that ECHO’s employment practices and policies comply with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Employee Onboarding: Coordinate onboarding training for new staff and interns. Meet with new hires to complete required paperwork and review key policies.
  • Staff Engagement: Help plan and implement appreciation events and activities. Regularly evaluate staff satisfaction and identify actions that improve the workplace experience.
  • Benefits Management: Provide day-to-day oversight of ECHO’s employee benefits. With the Director of Administration, perform annual renewal to ensure that ECHO’s benefit package is cost-effective and competitive.
  • Compensation Management: With the Director of Administration and the Executive Director, regularly evaluate and update ECHO’s compensation system.
  • Human Resources Budget: With the Director of Administration, create and manage ECHO’s human resources budget.
  • Safety: With the Director of Facilities & Animal Care, maintain ECHO’s safety training program and file annual OSHA reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
