About The Position

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager for our corporate office in Abingdon, Maryland. GTA is a rapidly growing consulting firm with 650 employees providing geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction observation, and materials testing services across 30 offices in 13 states. Our work is technical, field-enabled, and mission-driven - supporting private real estate clients developing projects that matter. In this role you will: Lead all employee benefits administration; manage broker/carrier/vendor relationships and open enrollment. Own multi-state leave management and HR compliance, partnering with internal and external counsel as needed. Modernize HR operations by building scalable processes (onboarding, terminations, employee changes, benefits lifecycle). Support implementation planning for our first HRIS (target go-live Q3/Q4 2026; modules include onboarding, payroll, and performance). Deliver benefits education and manager enablement so employees can increasingly self-serve over time.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of HR experience with strong benefits and compliance ownership.
  • Hands-on multi-state leave experience (FMLA + state paid leave).
  • Comfortable in ambiguity; a strategic builder who creates scalable, flexible processes to support a fast growing firm.
  • Highly responsive, clear communicator (written + verbal), and collaborative team player.
  • HRIS experience (implementation leadership not required).

Nice To Haves

  • Self-insured or level-funded plan experience.
  • Experience in AEC professional services (engineering, environmental, construction, industrial services etc.).
