About The Position

Acoustical Sheetmetal Company provides environmental and sound attenuating packaging for on-site power generation. We have two facilities located in Virginia Beach, Virginia , each built with the express purpose of assembling power generation projects. The HR Manager leads and oversees core human resources operations functions for a manufacturing organization, ensuring compliant, consistent, and effective HR operations. This role manages compensation, employee relations, performance management, policy governance, HR metrics, and employee engagement while partnering closely with leadership to support a stable, productive workforce. This role reports to the Human Resources Director and has 6 direct reports supporting multiple locations and shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3-5 years in a HR management or supervisor role supporting a large workforce.
  • HR certification required (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and OSHA.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, investigations, progressive discipline and employee leave programs.
  • Proven ability to manage HR programs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Compensation Management — Administer compensation programs, support annual salary reviews, maintain internal equity, and partner with the organization on market-aligned pay decisions.
  • Regulatory Compliance — Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; oversee audits; maintain required documentation; and update policies as regulations change.
  • Employee Relations — Lead investigations, resolve workplace concerns, coach managers, and apply progressive discipline consistently across the organization.
  • Leave Management — Oversee FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and company leave programs; ensure accurate tracking and communication.
  • Performance Management — Manage the performance review cycle, coach leaders on performance conversations, and support development planning.
  • Policy Administration — Maintain the employee handbook, develop and update HR policies, and ensure consistent application across all departments.
  • HR Metrics & Reporting — Track and analyze key HR indicators such as turnover, retention, engagement, and absenteeism; present insights to leadership.
  • Employee Retention & Engagement — Develop and implement programs that strengthen culture, improve engagement, and reduce turnover.
  • Progressive Discipline — Guide leaders through corrective action processes, ensuring fairness, documentation, and compliance.
  • Time & Attendance Oversight — Manage timekeeping systems, ensure accurate and timely payroll-related data, monitor attendance trends, and partner with supervisors to address attendance issues.
  • HR Operations Support — Collaborate with payroll, benefits, and safety teams to ensure smooth HR operations in a manufacturing environment.
