Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
  • Previous management experience , including leading, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
  • Proven experience managing an HR function , demonstrating oversight of key operational areas.
  • Strong knowledge of core HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with leaders and employees.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in using HCM (Human Capital Management) or HRIS software.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, scanner, phone).
  • Ability to type by touch and accurately use a company timekeeping system.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable mode of transportation for travel between properties.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and interpret in English.

Nice To Haves

  • HR Certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with Paylocity as an HCM platform.
  • Proficiency in navigating the internet for research purposes.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish (bilingual proficiency).
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices beyond basic legal compliance.
  • Experience with compensation initiatives, market research, and salary benchmarking.
  • Experience developing or updating training materials and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5 HR professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation of HR staff.
  • Delegate tasks and monitor work quality to ensure consistency, productivity, and adherence to standards.
  • Conduct staff evaluations, coaching sessions, and establish performance goals.
  • Handle complex employee or leader situations that have been escalated by the HR team.
  • Approve time off requests and review bi-weekly staff timesheets for accuracy.
  • Develop and nurture strong partnerships with department leaders, acting as a trusted advisor on all HR matters.
  • Attend Resort Operations and departmental meetings to ensure HR initiatives align with business goals.
  • Uphold and enforce company policies, procedures, and standards, modeling the "Sharing Smiles" philosophy.
  • Ensure all HR touchpoints with employees and managers reflect a commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Respond promptly to all inquiries and strive to "close the loop" on every situation inherited.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely bi-weekly processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Manage employee benefits programs (health insurance, retirement plans, housing, etc.) to ensure alignment with goals and employee satisfaction.
  • Act as the point of escalation for resolving complex payroll or benefits-related issues.
  • Oversee the management of employee relations issues, providing coaching to employees and managers on conflict resolution.
  • Manage the performance management process, ensuring it supports employee development and organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance evaluations, goal setting, and feedback.
  • Ensure all HR policies, practices, and procedures comply with relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and review of the employee handbook.
  • Conduct audits of HR records and systems to ensure confidentiality and data accuracy.
  • Support compensation initiatives, market research, and salary benchmarking to ensure internal equity.
  • Oversee the management and optimization of the HCM software (Paylocity), ensuring data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the Recruitment and Training Manager to align HR functions and develop updated materials.
  • Maintain knowledge of HR trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  • Assist the HR Director with special projects, open enrollment, wellness fairs, and other departmental events.
  • Continuously evaluate HR procedures and work distribution for efficient operation and make adjustments as necessary.
