About The Position

Sodexo is seeking a Human Resources Manager to support The Pass, a meal manufacturing and distribution facility in Union City, CA. This role is responsible for leading all in-unit HR functions for a diverse, unionized workforce of approximately 85 employees. You will oversee employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and compliance while serving as a key liaison between frontline employees and management. A strong background in union environments is required, including experience with collective bargaining agreements and labor relations. The position plays a critical role in fostering a high-performance, employee-focused culture in a fast-paced environment. You will partner closely with site leadership to ensure adherence to company policies, CBAs, and California labor laws. Spanish proficiency is required to effectively support and engage a diverse workforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources or related field
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • Proven experience working in a union environment, including CBA administration and grievance handling (required)
  • Strong knowledge of California labor laws, HR policies, and compliance requirements
  • Experience in HR within a large, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail
  • Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Management Experience - 3 years
  • Minimum Functional Experience - 5 years of HR experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations activities, including investigations, conflict resolution, and CBA administration
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation for new hires
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal, state (California), and local regulations
  • Maintain accurate HR records, including I-9s and personnel files, ensuring audit readiness
  • Serve as the primary HR liaison between hourly employees and management, fostering strong communication
  • Support labor relations, including grievance handling and union interactions, while driving HR initiatives
