About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager with a strong background in labor relations to join our HR team. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to manage all aspects of labor relations while overseeing general HR functions within the organization. This role will work closely with management and employees to ensure that labor agreements are upheld, resolve disputes, and promote positive relationships between the company and its Union and non-Union workforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in human resources, with at least 3 years focused on labor relations.
  • Proven experience negotiating labor contracts, managing union relationships, and handling grievances.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, labor practices, and HR compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience in both unionized and non-unionized environments is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s preferred
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar HR certification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all labor relations matters, including negotiations, grievances, and union-related issues.
  • Lead collective bargaining processes, including preparation, strategy development, and negotiation of labor contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
  • Work to resolve labor disputes, grievances, and conflicts in a timely and fair manner.
  • Act as a liaison between management and union representatives to foster productive working relationships.
  • Address employee concerns and complaints while ensuring alignment with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Develop and implement programs to improve employee engagement, morale, and retention.
  • Advise managers and staff on best practices in conflict resolution and dispute management.
  • Promote positive employee engagement and foster a healthy work culture.
  • Analyze annual employee surveys to assess employee satisfaction, engagement, and workplace culture.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Prepare reports and track metrics related to labor relations and employee satisfaction.
  • Provide training and guidance on labor relations topics, such as contract administration, grievance handling, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Ensure HR staff and managers are equipped with knowledge to effectively navigate labor relations issues.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training programs to address them.
  • Organize and implement employee development initiatives.
  • Encourage continuous learning and professional growth within the organization.
  • Evaluate and track performance through annual talent review processes and performance management evaluation systems.
  • Manage the full recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Collaborate with department heads to understand staffing needs and provide staffing solutions.
