This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. This position will work closely with both the senior Engineering Leadership team and HR Operations Talent Management teams to lead and manage the Management Trainee (MT), Experienced First Line Supervisor (EFLS) and Summer Intern programs for the Engineering department. Responsible for timely employment and placement of quality new hires and internal candidates for exempt positions in a cost-effective manner to meet operational demands and objectives.

Requirements

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources, or a related field
  • Familiarity with employment law and ability to coach Engineering officers in this area, including interviewing protocol and leading interview panels
  • Must have demonstrated strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be self-directed and motivated
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with a high degree of integrity in handling confidential information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to build strong relationships with members of the Engineering Team

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or other related field
  • 1-3 years of experience using Applicant Tracking Systems and Human Resources Information Systems
  • Prior experience in recruitment and hiring selection
  • Strong interviewing skills to support a lead role in candidate selection
  • Previous experience with SAP SuccessFactors is desired
  • Basic understanding of the Engineering Department organization, including operating practices and procedures
  • Strong independent decision-making ability, excellent analytical ability and attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Engineering College Recruiting program and oversees recruiting, hiring and mentoring EFLS, MT’s, and Interns for the Track, Signal and Roadway Equipment groups.
  • Collaborate with field leaders, the TTC, Learning and Development, and College Recruiting to facilitate the MT/EFLS/Intern onboarding and training.
  • Manage exempt staffing functions for the Engineering organization, including posting jobs, screening applicants, coordinating and leading interviews, assisting with candidate selections, and managing post-offer programs and processes
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and selection of scheduled and exempt candidates for hire and promotion
  • Coach Engineering officers on proper interviewing and selection protocols and ensure all selections comply with BNSF policy and employment law
  • Participate in Performance Management and Talent Planning processes
  • Assist with Employee Relations concerns within the Engineering department
  • Serve as a resource for and partner with Corporate and Field HR Business Partners
  • Research, resolve and be a resource for HR related topics, including but not limited to organization changes, expenses, payroll issues, compensation and benefits questions, First Line Supervisor testing, retirements, etc.
  • Assist with training employees and Engineering leaders on HR/Staffing processes
  • Ability to travel is required to attend college recruiting events across the US, up to 20%
