About The Position

The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Human Resources Intern to join our HR team and gain hands-on experience in various HR functions. The internship offers a comprehensive learning experience across multiple HR functions, providing a solid foundation for a future career in Human Resources. As a Human Resources Intern, you will support the HR department in various administrative and operational tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in G Suite (Google docs, sheets, drive) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Utilize an ATS system to manage the recruitment process from job posting to resume screening.
  • Maintain and update employee records, certifications and HR databases.
  • Use AI tools to support HR and administrative functions
  • Gain an understanding of employment regulations and their application to HR functions
  • Assist with benefits, workers' compensation, unemployment and leave of absence administration.
  • Contribute to special HR projects and initiative as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Director of HR
