The Job: The Human Resource Generalist serves as a key partner in supporting a wide range of human resource duties and initiatives within the museum, with a focus on recruiting. This role will support the Human Resource Team, which would include handling employee data, learning and development, talent management, reporting, employee relations, onboarding, recruiting, as well as building, administering and maintaining additional programs used within the human resource team

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years of demonstrated Human Resources and/or Recruiting experience.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Strong Computer skills including MS Office Suite/Word and Excel are required.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to travel 10% for job fairs and recruiting efforts.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication; ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
  • Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach.
  • General experience with ATS and HRIS systems is required; experience using ADP and/or Jazz HR is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, etc.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, turnover rates, retention rates, etc.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM CP/SCP) preferred.
  • Prior experience in labor relations and/or union is a plus.
  • General experience with ATS and HRIS systems is required; experience using ADP and/or Jazz HR is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day Human Resource support, including managing employee files, handling inquiries, and assisting with projects
  • Assist Onboarding new hires, ensuring they receive the necessary information and training to successfully start their new role
  • Create and evaluate Job descriptions in collaboration with Museum Leadership, Human Resources, and finance.
  • Maintain confidential employee data within the museum’s HRIS systems.
  • Support employees in navigating human resources systems and programs in collaboration with members of the human resource team.
  • Assist museum divisions with org structures and alignment with changing business needs.
  • Building out and delivering training and learning opportunities
  • Provide end to end, full life cycle of recruiting and hiring: intake meeting, posting, screening resumes, conducting telephone screens, scheduling interviews, collecting feedback, offer letters, processing pre-employment checks, and new hire paperwork.
  • Provide support in internship recruitment and process with external civic organizations.
  • Track and support on recruiting metrics.
  • Maintain recruiting systems, external recruiting search firms and partners.
  • Attend and manage relationships with local and collegiate job fairs.
  • Assist in conducting and coordinating exit interviews, , surveys, and any additional employee feedback.
  • Maintain Human Resource systems and databases, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate
  • Provide support for Human Resource compliance and legal issues, including advising on policies and procedures
  • Assist with Human Resource transactions in a HRIS system, such as processing new hires, terms, promotions, etc.
  • Administration and coordination of goal setting, Mid-Year Review, End of Year Review, talent review, and talent management initiatives
  • Intake of issues, grievances and coordination with union representatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to management through ER issues and performance management process
  • Conduct and complete investigations with recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned
