About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist is a well-rounded HR professional who works in collaboration with the HR team to support the human resources’ function. This position actively promotes initiatives and programs which increase employee visibility, connectedness, recognition, and active participation with a focus on fostering positive relationships and open communication with all members of the Checkpoint community. The HR Generalist is one who is never compromising on the standards of service delivery and constantly serves as a steward for the function through every interaction, every day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience as Human Resource Generalist
  • Knowledge of applicable employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, Worker Compensation, and Equal Employment Opportunity, ADA.
  • Awareness of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • Possess initiative, sound judgment, attention to detail and organizational savvy with the capacity to exercise discretion in working with highly confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to compose and edit written communications.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, with exceptional employee facing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop systems and procedures with an eye toward continuously improving process in place, as well as identifying opportunities for new ones.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms

Responsibilities

  • Provides human resources support to a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Executes recruitment applicant tracking program to create, post and recruit for assigned position.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation and onboarding, including background and drug screens, offer letters, payroll forms, benefits review, agendas, announcements, tours, etc.
  • Leads in the planning and coordination of company events.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulation concerning employment.
  • Coordinates open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
  • Facilitates offboarding activities with various departments.
  • Processes employee status changes
  • Maintains records of benefit plans participation, personnel records,and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • HR point of contact for HS&E and other related safety compliance and audits.
  • Responds to unemployment inquiries as needed.
  • Facilitates annual compliance training.
  • Leading employee recognition programs.
  • Performing administrative duties (i.e., data entry, electronic filing, order office supplies, process invoices, etc.)
  • Assisting HR team in providing content for the Checkpoint monthly newsletter and Checkpoint TV
  • Manages tuition reimbursement programs.
  • Occasional Travel
  • Other projects and job duties as assigned.
