About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist manages daily HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits administration, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance management, employee recognition, training and development and policy enforcement at The Independence Center. This role also provides administrative support, maintains confidential information, and offers guidance on policies to ensure compliance with local and national laws.

At least two years of human resources experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license and car insurance.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive human resources functions, including compensation, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance management, employee recognition, and training and development.
Administer health and wellness benefits by leading annual open enrollment, determining eligibility, processing life event changes, preparing benefit communications, and addressing employee inquiries.
Assist managers with the performance management review process and maintain accurate tracking records of employee performance and development.
Process and manage FMLA, FAMLI, disability, leave-of-absence, ADA requests, unemployment claims, and Worker’s Compensation claims, ensuring timely and compliant handling.
Review, track, and document compliance with all required training, professional licensures, and work assessments to ensure organizational standards are met.
Review and verify new hire documentation to determine eligibility to work in the U.S. by completing the Form I-9 and submitting E-Verification cases.
Input and maintain employee data in the HR Information System to ensure organized and complete employee records.
Manage employee-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations by regularly reviewing and updating policies and procedures and staying informed on current HR trends and best practices.
Recruiting and onboarding for all positions in The IC.
Participate and engage in any required program, committee or IC meetings with or in place of leadership.
This position may also require the performance of other duties as assigned.
