About The Position

Crosstown Plumbing is a successful, growing plumbing store located in East Orange, NJ. We’re looking for a hands-on Human Resources Generalist to support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and day-to-day HR operations. In this role, you’ll be a key point of contact for employees and help keep our HR processes organized, compliant and employee focused. You’ll support core HR functions such as payroll coordination, benefits administration, employee records management, and compliance, while also providing administrative support to the Owner. This position requires strong professionalism, discretion, and excellent organizational skills. Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in HR, recruiting, or a related role
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices and employment regulations
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting senior leadership or executive-level operations
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms, ADP RUN, payroll systems, and digital onboarding tools

Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment process from job posting through offer stage
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and timelines
  • Prepare, update, and maintain accurate job descriptions
  • Identify effective sourcing strategies and recruit qualified candidates
  • Screen applicants and participate in interview processes
  • Coordinate onboarding activities including background checks, new hire documentation, and system setup
  • Ensure all hiring and onboarding activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee HR questions and provide guidance as needed
  • Coordinate payroll-related changes and ensure accurate data entry
  • Administer benefits enrollments, life events, and employee status changes
  • Maintain compliant personnel files and HR documentation
  • Process employee separations and ensure completion of offboarding requirements
  • Track completion of required trainings and policy acknowledgements
  • Assist with performance documentation organization and follow-up
  • Respond to employment verification requests
  • Review and reconcile HR vendor and benefits invoices
  • Support employee communications and HR process improvements
  • Perform additional HR-related duties as assigned
  • Maintain the Owner’s calendar and assist with scheduling and coordination
  • Monitor email communications and organize follow-up actions
  • Provide administrative support for executive-level projects and priorities as needed
  • ad hoc projects and duties as assigned to support the needs of the business
