About The Position

Chesapeake Spice is a spice and seasoning manufacturer with a West Coast facility recently built to mirror operations headquartered in Maryland. Now a fully established plant in Reno, NV, significant growth is anticipated. This opportunity is designed to allow an entry level candidate time to learn the operations and establish skills that will be required with the growth, and has limitless potential. This role requires solid HR knowledge with strong administrative experience and will provide an opportunity for career growth within. The hours are flexible, onsite 20-30 per week, with future full-time opportunity. Duties include supporting 35+ manufacturing plant & office employees in human resources, leading training coordination, and providing administrative support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field highly preferred
  • 1+ year HR experience required, Generalist highly preferred
  • 3 years’ administrative experience required
  • PHR preferred; aPHR, SHRM cert, or HR related courses helpful
  • 1+ year experience using HRIS or related database required; Paycom highly preferred
  • Experience coordinating and conducting training; Training development preferred
  • Time keeping and Payroll processing experience preferred
  • Recruitment experience required; Application Tracking System preferred; Paycom a plus
  • Experience working in manufacturing industry preferred, food manufacturing a plus
  • Experience in benefits administration highly preferred
  • Advanced computer skills, including data entry, data processing, communication tools, and payroll and/or human resources software required
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel
  • Familiar with state, federal, and local employment laws

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in all areas of Human Resources, including but not limited to, payroll, benefits recruitment, compliance, policies & procedures, employee relations, training, and communications.
  • Lead training efforts, coordinate and conduct regulatory training. Will assist in training coordination for employees in all CSC locations.
  • Assist in maintaining safety compliance, conduct walkthroughs, provide reports, follow up, and manage employee training and refreshers.
  • Provide administrative office support as needed.
  • Act as liaison for employee questions and concerns relating to all aspects of employment, responds timely to inquiries, handles grievances, and maintains related documentation.
  • Coordinate daily with headquarters, attend regular virtual meetings.
  • Maintain physical and electronic personnel files, work within Paycom HRIS daily.
  • Manage all employee related documents, upload into systems, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Manage employee uniforms, to include order, tracking, and reconciling with outside vendor.
  • Assist in performing benefits administration, communications & open enrollment
  • Lead recruitment efforts for Reno location, work daily in Paycom Application Tracking System managing candidates, update requisitions, conduct and coordinate interviews.
  • Make employment offers, coordinate pre-hire process, schedule background and drug screens.
  • Coordinate and conduct new hire orientations and on-boarding.
  • File first reports of injury and assist in managing worker’s compensation claims.
  • Manage and maintain documentation for compliance with FMLA, ADA, EEOC, DOL, DLLR and other state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain bulletin boards, required posters, flyers, and employee communications for compliance with applicable laws.
  • Lead, plan and coordinate monthly employee events.
  • Compile various reports from database; Assist in gathering information for routine audits; Use Excel to manipulate and format as needed.
  • General administration- filing, creating forms & documents, copying, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
