In the Human Resource Generalist II role, you’ll coordinate and support various human resources functions, including the agency’s workers’ compensation program, leaves, and safety initiatives. This position maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records to support the mission of Interfaith Community Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, required
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience, required
  • OSHA-10 certification will need to be obtained within 90 days of hire, required
  • Valid CA Driver's License, required
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet multiple deadlines in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment
  • Knowledge of adult development and community and social service resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and collaborative teams
  • Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse workforce and maintain positive working relationships across all organizational levels
  • Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation, and a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with staff
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of client and employee information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Human Resources department by responding to employee inquiries.
  • Responsible for tracking all training, testing, and licensure requirements to ensure agency and specific grant requirements
  • Maintains the learning management system and gathers information necessary for audits or reporting requirements
  • Distributes required annual training to all new hires and existing staff through learning management system
  • Provides employee support and guidance on learning management system and troubleshoots systems issues when necessary
  • Coordinates the agency’s worker’s compensation program by providing appropriate notices and forms, filing and tracking claims, and providing employee assistance
  • Guides managers on proper worker’s compensation and workplace safety protocols and procedures
  • Serves as the main point of contact for all employee inquiries regarding workplace injuries
  • Responsible for OSHA reporting and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Coordinates agency-wide safety initiatives including the safety committee and communicating all safety policies to staff
  • Coordinates safety committee meetings and serves as an active member of the safety committee
  • Maintains agency employee SharePoint Safety page, Employee Announcements section, and related HR Document Libraries with the most current and relevant information
  • Processes change of status forms in a timely manner and verifies accurate reflection in changes to pay and/or benefits
  • Maintains and updates agency Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) at least annually and ensures all staff are strained on the WVPP procedures
  • Maintains, stores, and retrieves information in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner
  • Advises the Senior Human Resources Director on worker’s compensation and safety trends on a regular basis.
  • Provides timely general employee guidance on all HR-related topics
  • Coordinates the employee leave programs including FMLA, CFRA and other available leaves by processing leave requests, tracking leave periods and providing notices to staff regarding leaves
  • Coordinates requests for accommodation
  • Advises the Senior Human Resources Director on trends related to leaves as they arise and compiles applicable data for trend analysis
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, interns, clients, visitors and the public
  • Promotes a workplace culture that is consistent with Interfaith's values
  • Maintains confidential files, employee records, and Human Resources department records; both physical and electronic documents.
  • Assists with other HR functions such as payroll, benefits, leaves, recruitment, and retention etc. as necessary
  • All other duties as assigned
