About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist I is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Human Resources Generalist I ensures compliance with legal obligations in employment matters. This includes all aspects of colleague relations, including facilitating the issuance of performance plans to maintain compliance of staff. Collaborates with team members and leaders to ensure the positive, effective resolution of employment matters. Conducts thorough investigations of complaints from management and team members at all levels of the organization. Also manages investigations when reported by the compliance department. Ensures the uniform and equitable application of company policies and procedures. Develops trust and acceptance with departmental management through the facilitation of integrity-based, timely solutions. Investigates and manages compliance matters related to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, and other employment regulations and maintains federal and state compliance on all HR issues. Partners with the Employment Law team to respond to EEOC, DOL and other legal claims. Tracks issues/complaints and develops status reports for HR management. Prepares new or amended policies and procedures to respond to new laws and to ensure continued compliance with relevant laws, policies, and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant Human Resources Management experience with a focus on colleague (employee) relations highly preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy.
  • Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Human Resources experience in healthcare preferred.
  • PHR preferred; SHRM-CP or work towards certification preferred.
