About The Position

The Human Resources Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing the highest level of compliance services to the organization. This position assists in implementing and executing systems and processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, legal standards, and internal policies. The role supports venues by communicating compliance standards and acting as an HR subject matter expert for areas such as background checks, unemployment claims, and I-9/E-Verify. This role is a key contributor to building a proactive Compliance Center of Excellence by ensuring consistency, accuracy, and operational alignment across all venues

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a working knowledge of relevant state employment laws and Topgolf policies.
  • Ability to understand how HRIS, onboarding systems, and compliance tools intersect to ensure accurate and efficient workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data, spot trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability to prioritize high-risk issues and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and providing external data.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs and quick learning of vendor software.
  • Clear and conscious communicator with ability to leverage various media and understand audience needs.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local HR regulations and employment law.

Responsibilities

  • Guides and counsels DOs, and OMs on compliance policies and procedures, mitigating identified risks.
  • Reviews and establishes compliant HR practices, monitors compliance with HR processes including background checks, I-9 verification, and employment requirements.
  • Tracks key metrics, provides status reports, and recommends actions to mitigate compliance risks.
  • Assists Legal, Payroll, Compensation, and HR with data requests for claims, investigations, or subpoenas.
  • Manages vendor relationships, ensures timely payment, upgrades, and develops change management materials.
  • Develops process guides and training for key compliance processes.
  • Supports compliance areas such as wage and hour, onboarding documentation, record retention, time-of-hire notices, state-specific labor requirements, and risk mitigation for high-risk states.
  • Supports audit cadence by conducting routine spot checks, identifying trends, and escalating compliance gaps for remediation.
