About The Position

The Human Resources Assistant will implement the day to day processes, procedures and operations related to Human Resources. The position requires the ability to successfully multi-task and demands a high level of discretion and independent judgment. The Human Resources Assistant may carry out responsibilities in the following areas, but not limited to: employment processing, compensation, wellness and health benefits, benefits coordination, leave coordination, training and development, employee orientation, records management, and FMLA/OFLA, Paid Leave Oregon, and Oregon Employment Department processes.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively utilize and operate sophisticated automated record keeping systems and equipment.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply programs, policies and procedures in the work environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, skill and interest in the field of Human Resources.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently organize and prioritize work assignments and coordinate a variety of demanding tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload, follow through on assignments and work under dynamic conditions.
  • Good interpersonal oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Human Resource management, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain a wide variety of information related to assigned Human Resources records; input information into appropriate computer applications and generate a variety of reports and lists; assure the timely distribution of records and reports; forward documents to appropriate District staff and departments.
  • Explain District personnel policies, benefits and procedures to employees or job applicants as part of new employee on boarding.
  • Process, verify and maintain personnel related documentation, including first aid training, activity vehicle driving and employee leaves of absence.
  • Coordinate fingerprinting for all new employees as required by Board policy.
  • Assure licensed personnel hold valid and appropriate licensure for their assignment.
  • Keep current on all matters pertaining to personnel such as licensure rules and regulations, Board policy, bargaining agreements, ORS and OAR’s, FMLA/OFLA, Paid Leave Oregon
  • Issue staff ID badges.
  • Maintains volunteer software.
  • Work harmoniously with other employees and deals tactfully with the public.
  • Maintain regular attendance in order to preserve the continuity of service delivery for the program.
  • Perform duties in a manner reasonably expected and generally recognized by the profession.
  • Other duties as assigned
