About The Position

Provides administrative assistance to the Human Resources Department with basic professional human resource assignments in areas such as employment, compensation, classification, employee relations, training, benefits and/or organizational development.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic principles, practices and standards of human resource administration.
  • Skill in problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and stressful situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. and one-year experience working within an office environment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
  • I authorize Nisqually Indian Tribe or its designated third-party agency to conduct a background investigation, which may include verification of past employment, education, criminal history, and other relevant records.
  • I understand that I will be required to undergo a drug screening test as a condition of employment (or engagement). A positive result, refusal to test, or tampering with the test may result in disqualification or termination of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Answers telephone and greets visitors.
  • Assists visitors with completion of personnel forms and answers questions.
  • Receives, date stamps, separates and distributes incoming mail or other materials to appropriate staff based on subject of correspondence or mail.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties pertinent to work unit such as filing, data entry, typing various department forms, memos or documents; stuffs, addresses and labels envelopes; photocopies; prepares job announcements mailings; records/schedules use of conference rooms; monitors and prepares orders for office supplies periodically.
  • Maintains employee personnel files in line with organization policies and government regulations.
  • Retains records in line with organization record retention requirements.
  • Assists with preparation of position announcements, advertisements and information materials for recruitment.
  • Performs routine data input into a computerized human resources information system to establish and update applicant and employee records and benefits information.
  • Assists with correspondence and forms including benefit eligibility announcements and applicant referral notices.
  • Assists with new employee orientation programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
