The current opportunity as a Human Resources Assistant is in our Human Resources Department. This position is a permanent full-time position. The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the HR department and assists with daily operations related to recruitment, onboarding, employee records, and HR compliance. The role contributes to maintaining a positive and efficient workplace culture while ensuring adherence to Ontario employment legislation and company policies. Interested candidates should note that while this is an administrative role, some functions of the position may require the incoming incumbent to be present in the manufacturing space and PPE will be required at these times.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of HR or administrative experience (co-op or internship experience accepted).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of Ontario employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (hairnet, ear plugs, safety glasses, steel toed boots/shoes) as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • CHRP designation (or working towards it).
  • Experience with payroll or benefits administration.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Post job openings, screen resumes, schedule interviews, prepare offer letters, and coordinate new hire onboarding (including orientation).
  • Employee Records & Documentation: Maintain and update employee files and HR databases while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • HR Administration: Assist with new hire enrollment, payroll information, HR correspondence, memos, and reports.
  • Compliance & Policy Support: Ensure compliance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other Ontario legislation.
  • Employee Services: Provide administrative support for investigations, employee engagement activities and responding to employee inquiries
