About The Position

Cliff Berry, Inc. (CBI), a respected leader in environmental services with more than sixty-five years of operational excellence across Florida, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Human Resources Assistant to support our growing Human Resources department. The Human Resources Assistant will coordinate DOT and non-DOT physicals, drug and breath alcohol screenings, road tests, and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) reviews, helping maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance. The role also provides key support in recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and employee records management. As part of a fast-paced and service-driven HR team, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, professionalism, accuracy, and a commitment to confidentiality. This role interacts with employees, managers, and candidates across multiple locations and supports CBI’s mission of delivering safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible services. Requirements

  • Experience coordinating DOT/non-DOT physicals, drug and alcohol screenings, road tests, and MVR reviews in compliance with regulations.
  • Skilled in recruitment support, records management, and HR compliance reporting.
  • Knowledge of benefits administration, including open enrollment and employee inquiries.
  • Proficient in HRIS and other HR software.
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, follows established procedures accurately, and maintains consistent, organized workflows.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of administrative experience, ideally in HR or a regulated industry.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; HRIS experience (e.g., ADP, BambooHR) a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of HR processes and employment law preferred.
  • High level of confidentiality, accuracy, and customer service focus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule DOT and non-DOT physicals, pre-employment drug and breath alcohol screenings, and road tests for commercial driver candidates.
  • Review Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs), notify hiring managers when results meet company criteria, and escalate any variances to the Director of Human Resources.
  • Ensure all pre-employment screening results are received, documented, and communicated to hiring managers and other relevant parties prior to each new hire’s start date.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for physicals, drug and alcohol screenings, medical certifications, road tests, and other compliance documentation.
  • Prepare and support the production of HR compliance reports, including testing completion status, medical certificate tracking, and documented MVR results.
  • Assist with recruitment activities by coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, and managing pre-hire requirements.
  • Prepare offer letters, new hire packets, and all required onboarding documentation, including background check materials and I-9 verification forms.
  • Facilitate onboarding by ensuring all new employees complete orientation, required training, and regulatory and company documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate orientation sessions with Safety, Information Technology, and other departments, and assist in delivering HR-related orientation content.
  • Maintain employee records related to medical certifications, driving qualifications, and compliance in accordance with all regulatory requirements and company policy.
  • Work collaboratively with the Safety Department to ensure alignment on medical and driving requirements for safety-sensitive positions.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including processing updates, supporting open enrollment activities, and responding to employee benefit inquiries.
  • Coordinate HR meetings, training programs, and employee engagement initiatives, including logistics and preparation of required materials.
  • Provide support to Human Resources personnel, including the Director of Human Resources, to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across all departments and represent the Human Resources department with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all employee information, departmental matters, and company records.
