About The Position

The Human Resource Specialist position involves managing the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, screening candidates, and onboarding new hires. This role provides support for Workday functionalities, encompassing employee onboarding, performance management, and reporting. The specialist is responsible for assisting in maintaining accurate employee records, ensuring data privacy, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal policies, specifically COBRA federal guidelines by preparing related documents. The position also assists in the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, maintains documentation related to employee records, benefits, and HR policies, and collaborates with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies. This includes screening resumes, conducting initial interviews to identify qualified candidates, and coordinating the hiring process, such as scheduling interviews and communicating with candidates. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the state and federal employment laws.
  • Good written and oral communication skills and a willingness to speak to groups.
  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related field and two (2) years of experience in work related to the above-described duties, preferably in a human resource department.
  • OR An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major courses in human resource with (5) five years of experience in work related to the above-described duties, preferably in a human resource department.
  • Possession of a valid Mississippi driver's license.
  • Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Testing Required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation related to employee records, benefits, and HR policies.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial interviews to identify qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate the hiring process, including scheduling interviews and communicating with candidates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
