About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including recruiting, interviewing, benefits administration, employee relations, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role is essential in fostering a positive and compliant work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, preferred.
  • At least three years of human resource experience, preferably in a generalist role or within a similar industry, with a proven track record of handling a wide range of HR functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (ADPWorforce Now) and talent management systems (JazzHR).
  • Must be willing to commute to our Newark, NJ offices 3x/week.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verification
  • Generate official internal documents such as offer letters, employment verification, termination letters, and severance agreements
  • Maintain digital employee records, including documents, benefits and attendance records
  • Update and maintain job descriptions, conduct benchmark compensation studies, and manage the employee manual with regular annual updates to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company policies
  • Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and provide guidance on enrollment processes, including new hire and open enrollment periods
  • Coordinate with upper management to design and implement benefits offerings that align with the company’s budgets, enhance employee satisfaction, and provide maximum value to employees
  • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and work to resolve them effectively
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Use performance management tools to provide guidance, feedback, and performance evaluations
  • Ensure consistent application of all company HR policies and practices across the organization
  • Maintain and update company organization charts and employee directory
  • Partner with management to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives
  • Maintain and optimize HR systems and processes for efficiency
  • Conduct exit interviews for departing employees and provide insight for retention improvements
  • Design and implement employee retention strategies to reduce turnover
  • Prepare various HR correspondence, documentation, and communications in a timely manner
