About The Position

The Human Resource Assistant Manager in the retail trade sector plays a pivotal role in supporting the Operations and HR department to ensure the smooth operation of all human resource functions within the organization. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that align with the company’s strategic goals. The role involves managing employee relations, recruitment processes, performance management, and compliance with labor laws to foster a positive and productive work environment. The Assistant Manager will also contribute to training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and engagement. Ultimately, this position aims to support the growth and retention of a motivated workforce that drives the company’s success in a competitive retail market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2+ years of experience in human resources, preferably within the retail industry.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HR information systems (e.g., ADP or similar systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
  • Experience with retail workforce management and scheduling software.
  • Experience supporting or processing payroll, including reviewing data for accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to audit, validate, and “sense-check” data, reports, and processes.
  • Experience creating, analyzing, and auditing HR or workforce reports to support business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in employee training and development program coordination.
  • Familiarity with diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process, including job postings, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews.
  • Support employee relations by addressing inquiries, resolving conflicts, and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Help administer performance management systems, including performance reviews and feedback sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies by maintaining accurate records and conducting regular audits.
  • Coordinate training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
  • Assist in payroll processing and benefits administration in collaboration with the finance department.
  • Prepare HR reports and metrics to inform management decisions and improve HR strategies.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction.
  • Maintain and update employee records and HR databases.
