The Environmental Business Line of Arcadis is seeking an ambitious, hardworking, dependable scientist to support human health risk assessment, ecological risk assessment, and/or toxicology focused projects. The preferred location for this position is Portland, OR but Arcadis has offices throughout the US and the specific location for this position is flexible. This full-time position within our Risk Assessment and Toxicology group will support our diverse environmental assessment and restoration projects. The ideal candidate will possess great attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and will be capable of working as a productive member of a high-performance team.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Environmental Science, Biology, Toxicology, or closely related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with specialized academic experience in risk assessment and chemical fate and transport are strongly preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have completed advanced coursework in statistics and possess expertise in data visualization, enabling them to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights effectively.
  • Proficiency with R coding for statistical analysis and modeling and familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot would also be assets, reflecting an ability to leverage emerging technologies for enhanced productivity and innovative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting human health and/or ecological risk assessments and site investigations.
  • Working effectively with local and national project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders.
  • Analyzing and interpreting field data.
  • Preparing visual, graphical, and tabular summaries of environmental data and trends.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Supporting proposal efforts.
  • Conducting project related research (historical data, regulations, etc.).
  • Interpreting state and federal regulations.
  • Fieldwork (e.g., habitat assessment, environmental sample collection, emergency response)

  • The salary range for this position is $55,200- $82,800. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
