Summary: Reporting to the Regional Manager HSE PFR NA, this position is responsible for assisting with creating and communicating the overall safety and environmental program while identifying applicable regulations and risks in the Ruston, LA facility. The position will closely interact with Plant operations leaders and production personnel.

Regulatory knowledge and experience working under US regulations while capable of learning new regulations and applying this knowledge to achieve results would be beneficial.
Must be able to demonstrate extreme multi-tasking capability and professionalism in a high-pressure environment.
Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to generate concise and accurate reports and presentation materials.
May require travel to North America locations with Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and lift < 35 lbs.

Nice To Haves

HSE experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the paper industry would be beneficial. Strong Knowledge of HSE Regulations & Program requirements preferred.
The Safety Generalist may attend professional development classes/seminars to maintain proficiency for safety and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

Works closely with functional leaders to develop, implement, and maintain a written workplace HSE Program at the local level. This will include IOS 45001 and ISO 14001 Certifications.
Assists with establishing and implementing HSE programs to assure the highest possible degree of workplace safety for employees, contractors, and guests while enabling us to reach our business goals.
Conducts or directs efforts to identify hazards thru monitoring to evaluate the safety of company systems and processes. Record and document findings thru appropriate Andritz systems and forms.
Serves as a resource for administering required training thru the company’s Safety management program.
Assist in the preparation of incident investigations, reporting, recordkeeping, and metrics evaluation including customer generated information requests. Complete the monthly HSE Key Performance Indicators spreadsheet.
Facilitate regular workplace and equipment inspections and audits including accurate documentation and timely closure of corrective actions. Maintain the plant’s Safety Action Log.
Assists with establishing clear and visible safety and environmental awareness efforts at the local plant site level.
Develops and implements appropriate emergency response systems in conjunction with the local plant site.
Assist location management with general HSE related activities, reviews, and initiatives to support implementation and improvement. Heavy concentration in assuring documentation that meets corporate and regulatory requirements. Complete plant’s federal, state, and city environmental reports.
Assist to implement pollution prevention programs at the local level.
Assists with managing environmental processes to assure proper waste management and minimization practices in accordance with RCRA and TSCA regulatory requirements. Update the plant’s ESG Cockpit Tool with environmental data.
Assists with managing environmental processes to assure proper surface and ground water management and spill and contingency planning. Perform periodic reviews and required reporting.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.
