About The Position
The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district serving approximately 22,000 students with 60+ different languages spoken in their homes. The Assistant Coach is directly responsible to the head coach of a sport, expected to exhibit total loyalty to the program, the head coach, and other assistants, and required to carry out all assignments given by the head coach.
Requirements
- Certified teacher or must qualify for Rule 10 approval through the Kansas State High School Activities Association
Responsibilities
- Organize and direct coaching staff
- Collecting physical examination forms
- Collecting insurance release forms
- Reporting injuries to school nurse
- Taking inventory and submitting a list of equipment needs
- Checking out and collecting all equipment
- Keeping accurate records and reports of lost or stolen equipment
- Providing a roster of players
- Providing the Athletic Director a list of athletes who are to receive awards at the end of the season and plan the awards ceremony
- Insuring proper team conduct on trips and during contests
- Knowing all rules pertaining to his or her sport
- Treating of injuries or attending to athletes
- Cleaning and Maintenance of equipment and uniforms
- Organizing practice sessions
