About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist provides administrative and operational support across a wide range of HR functions, including HRIS, onboarding and offboarding, records management, policy administration, compliance, employee relations, benefits, leaves of absence, performance management, and special projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field required or equivalent, relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Microsoft Office, and demonstrated skills in database management and recordkeeping.
  • Organized and efficient in daily tasks.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and best practices.
  • Able to embrace and adapt to new system technologies to support the business.
  • Dependable; able to meet reliable attendance and punctuality standards for the role.

Nice To Haves

  • At least four years of human resource experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR is a plus.
  • Experience with UKG/BI reports a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manages data in the HR Information System (HRIS) to ensure new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, etc., are processed correctly and data is accurate. Provides notification to appropriate parties. Works with Payroll to ensure employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate employee records related to hiring, promotions and transfers in the HRIS for reporting and audit purposes.
  • Runs reports and conducts audits on a regular basis to support compliance, benefits, and accurate reporting of data.
  • Processes the offboarding of teammates in a timely and compliant manner. Processes employee terminations in the HRIS, provides exit paperwork, and conducts other offboarding activities in compliance with UVVC policies and federal/state/local laws. Helps coordinate the return of UVVC equipment.
  • Manages HR ticketing system and assigns tickets to appropriate parties for swift resolution.
  • Produces reports/statistical information out of the HRIS
  • Manages HR department e-file/storage.
  • Provides HR policy clarifications; manages HR policies, documents, and job descriptions; assists with creation of such documents.
  • Assists with company and labor law compliance (ongoing tracking of team licensures/certifications, reviewing federal/state/local labor law requirements, and management of labor law posters).
  • Assists with onboarding of new team members, employee engagement initiatives, training, surveys, and background checks. Acts as back-up to the HR Coordinator in supporting onboarding/background checks, new hire orientation, training, and employee engagement activities.
  • Assists with benefits administration.
  • Helps manage workers’ compensation claims.
  • Coordinates with vendors regarding leave administration, verifications of employment, and unemployment claims (processing of unemployment claims, participation in unemployment hearings, and maintenance of documentation in the HR system.
  • Assists with employee relations and performance management functions. May handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
