About The Position

The HR Generalist is a key contributor within People Operations, focused on compliance, process creation, documentation accuracy, and scalable HR systems. This role directly supports multi-state employment practices and ensures consistent execution of HR processes across all current and future Veterinary United locations. We are seeking an analytical, process-driven HR Generalist with demonstrated experience supporting multi-state, multi-unit organizations. This role requires someone who understands the complexity of managing compliance and HR systems across multiple locations and regulatory environments and someone with ample benefits experience. This is a role for someone who enjoys: Building and refining structured systems Creating compliance safeguards across jurisdictions Analyzing HR data and workflows Ensuring documentation accuracy at scale Strengthening infrastructure in a multi-unit organization While employee interaction is important, this position relies heavily on analytical thinking, organization, regulatory awareness, and structured problem-solving.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of HR experience in a Generalist or Coordinator capacity
  • Direct experience supporting multi-state, multi-unit organizations
  • Strong working knowledge of multi-state employment laws and compliance frameworks
  • Experience operating within structured, growth-oriented environments
  • Highly analytical with strong documentation and process-building skills
  • Experience working within HRIS platforms and multiple data systems
  • Ability to manage multiple workflows while maintaining precision

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare leadership experience (veterinary or medical multi-site environments strongly preferred)
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification
  • Experience supporting organizations in active expansion or acquisition phases

Responsibilities

  • Support HR compliance across current and expanding state markets
  • Monitor and interpret state-specific employment laws and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across multiple units and jurisdictions
  • Maintain accurate documentation aligned with multi-state labor standards
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance tracking
  • Manages benefits across the company
  • Develop, document, and refine HR workflows to ensure consistency across all practices
  • Create scalable onboarding and offboarding systems
  • Establish structured protocols for compensation changes, job transitions, and employment updates
  • Build repeatable systems designed to support expansion into additional states
  • Maintain and audit employee records within the HRIS across all units
  • Ensure data integrity across multi-location systems
  • Generate structured reporting to support executive decision-making
  • Analyze trends related to turnover, labor costs, and workforce planning
  • Oversee structured administration of leave programs and employment changes across multiple states
  • Ensure policy alignment and consistency across all hospitals
  • Support company-wide rollouts, annual updates, and documentation revisions
  • Provide structured guidance to leadership teams regarding policy application
  • Support conflict resolution with a compliance-first mindset
  • Reinforce consistent policy enforcement across multiple units
  • Identify inefficiencies within HR systems and implement improvements
  • Build compliance trackers and accountability tools
  • Support the development of an HR infrastructure capable of sustaining multi-state expansion
