About The Position

Placers is seeking an HR Director for our respected client headquartered in Wilmington, DE. The Human Resources Director is a senior executive position, responsible for modernizing and leading the full scope of HR operations to meet 2025 standards. This leader will serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, guiding strategy and execution across all aspects of people, policy, and performance. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial-minded, results-driven, and motivated by the opportunity to build and own a department from the ground up. This organization has 6 different national and international sites with the forecast to add an additional 2 sites nationally over the next two years. HR leaders from accounting, business, or financial services backgrounds are encouraged to apply—your analytical skills, business acumen, and leadership experience are strong assets for success in this role. The HR Director interacts continually with other managers, ensuring seamless coordination of information and compliance across all departments. The work is highly analytical and data-driven, involving interpreting reports, workforce planning, and policy design. This position requires decisiveness, discretion, and strong communication with executive leadership. As the senior HR authority, you will oversee personnel management for over 1000 employees, recruiting, hiring, development, and organizational performance initiatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of HR experience preferred (minimum 5 years in a senior HR leadership role within an organization of approximately 1,000 employees).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources or a related business field.
  • SHRM certification required; additional HR credentials are a plus.
  • Proven ability to modernize HR systems, processes, and policies.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a balance of strategy and execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must live within a commutable distance of Wilmington, DE, or be willing to relocate (relocation assistance provided).

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a modern HR department with the freedom to shape its structure and systems.
  • Hire a Training & Development Manager as an early priority.
  • Analyze wage and salary data to develop competitive compensation plans.
  • Prepare personnel forecasts and employment projections.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate policies on equal employment opportunity, compensation, and benefits.
  • Consult with legal counsel to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive human resources information system (HRIS) that meets management needs.
  • Oversee recordkeeping and ensure compliance with all reporting and legal requirements.
  • Study legislation, arbitration decisions, and industry trends to inform HR strategy.
  • Represent management in collective bargaining negotiations when applicable.
  • Write and deliver presentations to corporate officers or government officials regarding HR policies and practices.
  • Maintain the organizational structure, pay grades, and perks framework, ensuring all positions are accurately defined.
  • Develop and update job descriptions, KPIs, performance review systems, and training programs.
  • Implement internal and external employee engagement and satisfaction surveys (including NPS-style systems).
  • Partner with leadership to align HR initiatives with business and operational goals.
