About The Position

Reporting to the Chief of Staff/Chief Transformation Officer, the Human Resources Director will be responsible for overseeing and leading the talent strategies, programs and processes to position AJSOCAL to recruit and retain top talent, while fostering an organizational culture that prioritizes inclusiveness, creative excellence, collaborative leadership, and innovative thinking across all departments. This leader will also bring best practices in the areas of labor and employee relations, HR information systems, and risk and compliance. Ideally, we expect to have a proactive, strategic HR leader, who understands evolving staffing needs and personnel development opportunities. The best candidates must possess a people-centered, solutions-oriented approach to shaping organizational culture and progressing talent, and a growth mindset, adaptive to and embracing change. They will also have a strong personal commitment to our organization’s mission which identifies us as a social justice organization that protects and strengthens the rights and dignity of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, especially those that are most disadvantaged. Your day-to-day typically includes: 70% Oversight of Talent Management Strategies and Processes Initiate, manage, and oversee the development and implementation of HR-focused initiatives, programs, and activities in the following areas: Recruitment and Onboarding/Orientation Workforce Strategy Benefits and Compensation Performance Management Employee Engagement and Recognition Talent Development and Training Leadership Development Labor and Employee Relations HR Information Systems Policy Creation and Enforcement Risk & Compliance Act as a Strategic Partner to COS/CTO on driving organizational transformation and culture. In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, establish policies and processes to ensure that the organizational culture prioritizes creativity, innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity. Serve as a coach for organizational managers, growing their competency in handling people related matters to build stronger, thriving teams. Be a resource and advisor to leadership and staff on all HR-related policies and issues. Manage labor and employee relations issues, including creation of policies and processes to support positive and productive relationships between leadership, managers and staff, and between the organization and union. Partner with the General Counsel on collective bargaining requirements, compensation, and talent management strategies. Lead processes for conflict resolution and investigations when necessary. 20% Development and Oversight of Talent Acquisition Strategies Develop, implement, and continually refine the strategy to identify talent across all levels of the company. Collaborate closely with department heads to identify short- and long-term talent needs and create a recruiting process designed to meet the objectives of each group. Identify the traits of successful team members and incorporate this information into the recruiting process. Identify opportunities to cultivate relationships with valuable sources of referrals to top talent. Build and strengthen AJSOCAL’s brand, positioning the company as a highly desirable destination for talent to learn and grow. Ensure that recruiting initiatives prioritize inclusivity in both outreach and the assessment process. 10% Other Duties: Collaborate with various stakeholder (IT, Facilities, GC, Finance, Development, etc.) to mitigate risks for the organization and to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws/legal requirements, including creation and enforcement of related policies and processes. Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience progressive human resources experience with at least 3 years in a senior or management level position required.
  • Thorough knowledge of all federal and state employment laws, including EEO/AA laws, polices and regulations.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of HRIS/ATS platforms (Currently Paycom)
  • Deep commitment to the mission of the organization
  • Valid driver’s license or access to reliable means of transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity or experience working in the non-profit sector preferred.
  • SHRM-CP and/or PHR certification highly preferred.
  • Previous experience with labor-management relations highly preferred
