About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the Human Resource Benefits Manager provide benefit administration service and information to employees.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with human resources preferred.
  • Verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent record keeping skills
  • Ability to follow procedures.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to understand benefits policies and requirements and adhere to timelines.
  • Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.
  • Must meet State Compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check, and submit to random drug testing.
  • Frequently required to sit, occasionally required to stand and or walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to loud noise levels
  • Frequent exposure to tobacco smoke
  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency (GED)
  • Two years’ experience in a professional Human Resources office
  • Knowledge and skill in using a personal computer.
  • Must meet Tribal/State compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check and submit to drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or some college
  • Preferred certification(s) with Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP, PHR) and/or Tribal Human Resource Professional (THRP)

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Benefits Manager in providing administrative service and information to employees and benefit program administrators regarding group life, health/dental benefits and pension plan.
  • Assists with employee enrollment, communication and distribution of benefit information to the properties.
  • Maintains files of benefits history, data, correspondence, reports and forms.
  • Assists with the coordination of training programs and open enrollment.
  • Answers basic benefits questions.
  • Is responsible for knowing all events in the property as a whole.
  • Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Is sensitive to Native American Culture.
  • Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations.
  • Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
