About The Position

As an HR & Talent Associate, you will serve as the school's primary recruiting engine. This is a newly created role at the heart of Boston Prep's talent strategy, and the person who fills it will be responsible for ensuring that every open seat on our staff is filled by a mission-aligned, high-quality candidate. This role has a focus on talent acquisition and recruitment strategy. Additionally, this role will support core HR operations in partnership with the Director of HR & Talent. This role is ideal for someone who is energized by people, loves building relationships, and wants to make a measurable difference in who teaches and works in Boston's schools. You believe in creating an educational experience where students are able to see themselves reflected in the content of your class.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business, Education, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, HR, or a people-facing role; experience in a school or nonprofit setting a strong plus
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for relationship-building, networking, and representing an organization externally
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume recruiting pipeline across multiple open roles simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive candidate and employee information
  • Genuine commitment to Boston Prep's mission and to educational equity for students in Boston

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Experience attending or organizing career fairs or campus recruiting events
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole a plus, reflecting Boston Prep's student community)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director of HR & Talent to execute Boston Prep's annual recruitment strategy for instructional and non-instructional staff
  • Build and maintain a robust talent pipeline of mission-aligned candidates through consistent, relationship-based outreach
  • Identify and track sourcing channels by effectiveness (quality of hire, time-to-fill, diversity of candidate pool) and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Research and recommend new sourcing partnerships, platforms, and strategies to continuously improve recruitment outcomes
  • Represent Boston Prep at college and university career fairs, education job fairs, and community hiring events throughout the Boston area and New England region
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with teacher residency programs (e.g., Match Teacher Residency, Boston Teacher Residency), alternative certification programs, and DESE-approved licensure pathways
  • Manage job postings across all relevant platforms, including LinkedIn and school-specific networks
  • Develop and maintain a talent database of past applicants, silver medalists, and warm leads for proactive outreach when positions open
  • Manage the end-to-end hiring process for assigned roles, from screening through offer acceptance
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial phone and video screens with candidates
  • Coordinate and schedule all interview rounds, including demo lessons and interviews
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the process, ensuring timely, warm, and professional communication that reflects Boston Prep's culture
  • Collect and synthesize interview feedback and support hiring managers in making well-informed, equitable hiring decisions
  • Support managers with verbal offers and negotiations in coordination with the COO
  • Actively work to recruit a diverse staff that reflects and honors Boston Prep's student community
  • Partner with the Director to identify and mitigate bias in recruitment practices and job descriptions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the applicant tracking system (ATS) for all open roles
  • Track and report on key recruiting metrics, including time-to-fill, source of hire, offer acceptance rate, and candidate diversity
  • Prepare a quarterly recruiting dashboard for the Director summarizing pipeline status, upcoming interviews, and open roles
  • Conduct post-hire surveys with new employees to gather feedback on the recruiting experience and identify improvements
  • Support new staff orientation and other HR sessions, including logistics and materials preparation
  • Process offboarding documentation and support separation logistics
  • Support HRIS data entry (new hires, status changes, terminations) and generate reports as needed
  • Support CORI/SORI background check and I-9 processing
  • Support various HR projects and priorities
  • Additional responsibilities, including but not limited to, may involve tasks such as supervising lunch periods, managing swipe and front desk duties, and other school duty assignments.
