About The Position

Santa Monica Seafood is a family-owned and operated business, and one of the West Coast’s top seafood distributors providing only the highest quality fresh fish and seafood products to restaurants, hotels, retail stores and institutional food service providers throughout Southern California, Arizona and Las Vegas area. Santa Monica Seafood is currently seeking a Human Resources Administrator. This position will be situated at the company’s Rancho Dominguez, CA. facility.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Latin American Spanish
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency with HRIS/HCM (Dayforce preferred) and Applicant Tracking Systems (Taleo Business Edition preferred)
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or related discipline strongly preferred
  • 3 or more years’ directly related experience as an HR Coordinator or similar position at a multi-site employer preferrable in the food processing or distribution industry

Responsibilities

  • Administers policies, procedures, and programs relating to all aspects of human resource activity.
  • Organizes, updates, and maintains personnel files; prepares and manages HR documents, and performs data entry for the Dayforce HRIS, Taleo applicant tracking, E-Verify, and onboarding systems software.
  • Assists with employment, personnel records, employee relations, and benefits administration.
  • Facilitates activities related to recruitment, including job posting, candidate sourcing and coordinating assessments, interviews, requests for background checks, drug screens, and pre-placement physical exams and/or results.
  • Conducts the new hire and onboarding processes, including review of company policies and benefit plans and collection and processing of new hire paperwork.
  • Administers Workers Compensation in accordance with Safety, Security, and Loss Prevention Department standards and completes assigned follow-up work.
  • Coordinates, plans, schedules, and maintains records for various Human Resources projects, meetings and training and development programs.
  • Updates and maintains the exit interview process and database. Administers the unemployment process by providing state agencies with necessary information and backup documentation regarding employee separation.
  • Maintains and updates job descriptions for all positions.
  • Responds to general inquiries regarding, benefits from employees and leadership at various levels of the organization.
  • Helps resolve work-related issues.
  • Performs general clerical duties to include filing, copying, maintaining, tracking, mailing, and ordering Human Resources materials, etc.
  • May assist Recruiter and attend recruitment/job fairs as needed.
  • May compile reports and perform ad hoc reports.
