About The Position

The Housing Coordinator and Program Mentor Supervisor for the Della Keats Health Science Program provides leadership and oversight for all residential and co-curricular aspects of the program. This position supervises Program Mentors, ensures high-quality student support, and oversees daily operations, activities, housing coordination, safety, and compliance. The Supervisor fosters an inclusive, engaging residential environment where pre-college students can explore health careers, build community, and develop college-readiness skills. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities, as well as a commitment to supporting diverse youth in a structured, residential setting. Approved or ability to become an approved UAA driver (motor vehicle background check and driver training course) To thrive in this role, the supervisor should bring a passion for supporting diverse pre-college students and the ability to lead staff in creating a positive, engaging program environment. The ideal applicant can oversee a variety of recreational, educational, and social activities with creativity and flexibility, while ensuring high-quality student experiences. Strong communication, planning, organizational, and staff-leadership skills are essential. Knowledge of or experience with rural Alaskan culture, lifestyle, challenges, and an appreciation for these is needed for this position. Along with a desire to work with youth and help them discover their own strengths and interests. A creative and adaptable mindset, working well as a part of a team and a willingness to lead as needed. Having a strong work ethic, integrity, and moral compass, and caring about the example being set for the youth participating in the program, is essential.

Requirements

  • High School graduation and a minimum of 60 university credits in math, health science, biology, chemistry, or physics successfully completed is required.
  • 1 year of experience supervising staff, students or leading teams in youth, residential, camp, or educational programs, including at least one year in residence programs.
  • Valid driver’s license with 3 years of driving experience, and a clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
