A Day in the Life of an Affordable Housing Program Coordinator As the Affordable Housing Program Coordinator, you’ll perform on-site and centralized management, compliance, administrative and operational duties for the affordable housing projects managed by CAPBM. Your day will involve: Managing tenant relations, including general communications and notices, resolution of tenant concerns, fulfillment of maintenance requests, and emergencies which may arise on a day-to-day basis. Serve as an on-site point of contact during office hours, remaining in the office to assist tenants, answer questions, and address concerns in a timely and professional manner. The property schedule will be rotating weekly. Receives rent checks, goes to properties first and third week of each month to collect rent checks. Going to properties to get Annual Recertification signatures weekly and meeting with tenants for Annual Recertifications. Completes intake of prospective tenants, using application procedures compliant with HUD rules and regulations and the appropriate tenant selection plan. Works closely with the Affordable Housing Director and program team members, to ensure that all the properties are running smoothly and are compliant with all federal and state and local regulations. Provide administrative support to the Director and Program Manager including but not limited to scanning, copying, and faxing documents as needed. Receives rent checks, goes to properties first and third week of each month to collect rent checks.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree in business or human/social services. Education requirement may be substituted with two years work experience in assisted housing field, as well as working knowledge of HUD/FHEO regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Affordable Housing experience required.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace.
  • Technical: Knowledge of HUD and FHEO rules and regulations regarding eligibility requirements for tenancy preferred.
  • License/Certification: A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for travel between program locations. Certified Occupancy Specialist designation must be acquired within one year of hire date.
  • Successful completion of criminal record check required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in affordable housing software such as Onesite, Boston Post, or Yardi, is a plus.
  • Technical: Knowledge of HUD and FHEO rules and regulations regarding eligibility requirements for tenancy preferred.
