About The Position

As a Houseperson at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort and Spa, you will support the Housekeeping team in maintaining exceptional cleanliness, organization, and efficiency throughout the property. This essential role involves handling linen distribution, public area upkeep, heavy lifting, laundry support, and assisting Room Attendants to ensure guest rooms and common spaces meet luxury resort standards. Your attention to detail, physical stamina, and knowledge of proper linen care will help deliver a pristine, welcoming environment for every guest.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in hotel housekeeping, laundry, or a similar support role preferred; on-the-job training provided.
  • Working knowledge of laundry chemicals, formulas, and their impact on different linen types (e.g., cotton, blends, terry) to ensure safe and effective handling.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, organize work efficiently, and manage time in a dynamic setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual labor.
  • Flexible availability required, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and extended shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collect soiled linen and trash from Room Attendant carts, hallways, guest floors, public areas, and service zones; transport items to the laundry department efficiently.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute clean linen and supplies to housekeeping closets, storage areas, and Room Attendants, maintaining accurate par levels and organized stock.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of laundry chemicals, different formulas, and their effects on various types of linen (e.g., proper usage to prevent damage, staining, or wear).
  • Assist with laundry operations as needed, including sorting, pre-treating items, loading/unloading equipment, folding, and storing clean linens.
  • Clean and maintain public areas, corridors, elevators, stairwells, service areas, and back-of-house spaces (e.g., sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash, and removing debris).
  • Support Room Attendants by providing heavy lifting assistance, delivering extra amenities (e.g., rollaway beds, cribs, blankets), stripping beds, or helping with special cleaning projects.
  • Prioritize and organize daily tasks effectively to meet shift deadlines, respond to urgent needs, and ensure smooth departmental flow.
  • Report maintenance issues, damages, low supplies, or linen quality problems (e.g., stains, tears) to the supervisor promptly.
  • Keep housekeeping carts, storage closets, and laundry areas clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Interact courteously with guests when encountered; report any guest requests or concerns to a supervisor immediately.
  • Follow all safety protocols, key control procedures, and hotel standards for chemical handling, linen care, and equipment use.
  • Perform deep cleaning, floor care (e.g., stripping/waxing as scheduled), and other assigned projects to uphold resort presentation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management to support overall housekeeping operations.
