About The Position

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for handling the housekeeping staff and helps them in the cleaning and maintenance of the environment and ambience for the hotel. Cleanliness standards are outlined by Forbes and AAA Guidelines but not limited to only the cleanliness of the guest rooms. The Housekeeping Manager reports to the Director Housekeeping. He or She schedules the cleaning and maintenance activities and assigns specific tasks to different housekeeping staff on a weekly or monthly basis, as the case may be. The Housekeeping Manager's responsibilities are to purchase and maintain inventories such as chemicals, detergents, pesticides, room fresheners, vacuum cleaners, mops, etc. He or She must know how to use the different cleaning materials and in what quantity. Recruitment and training of staff and supervising their work are also an important job task of the assistant housekeeper executive.

Requirements

  • To perform the assistant executive housekeeper responsibilities efficiently, you need to possess excellent organizational and leadership skills along with an understanding of housekeeping requirements of different organizations
  • You must be able to work with chemical and electronic equipment’s on a routine basis
  • You need to be communicative and cooperative with the staff
  • Very well Spoken and knowledgeable of Forbes and AAA standards

Responsibilities

  • Staff scheduling: The assistant executive housekeeper plans and schedules the different tasks of cleaning and maintenance. He assigns specific tasks to different members according to their competency
  • Inspection: The assistant executive housekeeper has to inspect the various areas and ensure that they are well cleaned and maintained. If a housekeeping staff finds it difficult to clean or maintain a particular area, then the assistant executive housekeeper instructs and helps in cleaning
  • Hiring and training: The assistant executive housekeeper assists the human resource officer in the recruitment process. He She interviews the candidates and sends the report to the officer for further evaluation. He or She also provides training to the candidates who are selected and assigned to him
  • Inventory management: The assistant executive housekeeper purchases and keeps a record of the stock required in cleaning and maintenance. He has to communicate and negotiate with different vendors and purchase the materials from the vendor who offers best quality within the allotted budget
  • Budgeting and quality control: The assistant executive housekeeper discusses and decides the monthly, quarterly or annual budget for housekeeping. He also ensures that high standards of quality are maintained and the client is satisfied with the services
